My earlier blog post was about Arthanaeeswar temple in the small village called Arakkuparamba. There is a anther templei n the next village called mattarakal. The Shiva Vishnu temple is situated amongst groves of banana araicanuts, coconuts etc. The villagers say that the Shiva lingam was built for the pandavas to offer their prayers. This makes the temple also to be an ancient one dating back to Mahabharata times. Of course the current temple premises is built only in the last century. I presume that the Vishnu was the later time addition for the benefit of the namboodhiris living here. In this temple Vishnu is in the form of Vanana, who was supposed to be born in Kerala to conquer Mahaballi. The beauty of this Diety in the form of a small child is seen to be enjoyed. Such a graceful and charm that it makes you rooted to the sannidhanam. The Siva lingam is of medium height and is on the west side of...
About 7 months back a group of Entrepreneurs from Chennai who had a common thread of running their software companies got togehter to form a cohesive group - The IT SME FORUM - as a Strategy to accelerate their individual growth through synergy. This gave rise to the idea - why not have a platform to share the best practices, to learn how to tackle problems, get a better voice and get a big bandwidth in terms of out rea...
One of the most Powerful temples in Jammu City is this Mahakali temple. Our cab driver was citing an incident to narrative the Power of the Goddess. During the 1971 war Pakistan war planes were going to target the bridge across the Tawi River which would mean that the city of Jammu would be totally cut off from rest of the country. The city people prayed to Maa to save their city. While the war planes were flying over the city looking to bomb the bridges all they could see was only river water and no bridge but saw a lady in red saree walking with a lamp in her hand along the banks. So it seems the planes flew back without targeting the city. Hearing this we wanted to go and seek the blessings of Maa Kali. The temple is situated within the Bahu Fort and hence derives its name Bawe wali (meaning the resident of Bahu fort) Mata Temple. The devotees are made to walk through sho...
