Rajasthan Tour Diaries Day 5  Travelling from Ranakpur to Udaipur through the Aravalli mountain ranges is a beautiful drive.  And there were a lot of scheduled stops  on the way.  The first such a stop over was at Kumbhalgarh Fort. The Birthplace of Maharana Pratap and an UNESCO site. Called the The India's Great Wall of China this fort and its  protective wall going around 36 kms with the width that can accommodate 5 horses its a engineering marvel of our forefathers.  Also the guide was saying that the Fort was constructed in such a way that it is camouflaged and can be seen only when you are within 400 meters only.  While the larger vehicles are stopped at the bottom, the jeeps takes you up the steep incline and pass through  various gates called pols -  You need to pass the 3rd Pol called Hanuman Pol before you reach the Ram Pol which is the starting point of the Actual Fort.    once you enter the Ram pol, on both sides you have many temples - Ganesh, Maataji, Shiv Maharaj a

Rajasthan Tour Diaries Day 4 Ranakpur Things to be done while in Ranakpur are Jeep Safari and Visit to the Jain Temple. This region is a fertile region thanks to the aravilli hills and abundance of rainfall and so there is lush greens and wild forests everywhere.   A place for jeep safari in the foothills of Aravalli Range as well as for Jains a sacred place for the famous and most beautiful temple for Tirthankara Adinatha is what Rankapur is famous for.     Having driven down from Khimsar we reached the place around 4.30 pm  and immediately shifted to the individual jeeps for the Jungle Safari where we had the sighting of one leopard.  The jeep safari starts either in the morning time or at 4 30pm in the evening.  The jeep drivers give you a thrill of your lifetime driving over rocks, climbing steep hillock and through water.  Though a tad scary but one cannot but admire the driving skills of these jeep drivers.   From a distance you can even see the Kumbalgarh Fort too.  Then they

Rajasthan Tour Diaries Day 2 contd..... This wanted to go but because I was too tired and it meant a lot of walking I had to skip.  But this is the market where you can shop and dine to your heart content  Picture from online jodhpur tourism site The clock tower in Jodhpur is a heavenly landmark in the old city, and Jodhpur is one of the most distinctive destinations standout. The clock tower, named as 'Ghanta Ghar' by the locals, which is around an exact interpretation, is three-storey long and has a Goliath English-style time which is good till today. History of Ghanta Ghar Ghanta Ghar Jodhpur is the key to unorthodox method by which it has been built. With clock towers, the design will usually be gothic in its genre. In any case, during the building's attempt by Maharaja Sardar Singh in the second half of the 1890s, the Ghanta Ghar received an Indian perspective very fast, which can be seen in any case today. Compared to a square clock tower, it is a real architectural

Rajasthan Tour Dairies. We landed in this city Called Blue City which name came because of the houses near the fort  painted * Blue*   both due to religious reasons as well as Blue cools the house during the high Sun.  Actually the guide was telling us that between 12 noon to 2 00pmthe sun us hottest in thus city compared to any other city in Rajasthan and that's also gets the city another name called Sun city. Close to the city is a place called Mandor and the guide was saying it  got its name because if Ravana wife Mandodari.  Originally the Rathore king build the fort here but the height wasn't enough to get the protection it needed a d few wars were lost and the king then chose Mehrangarh where he saw a She goat having g successfully fought a leopard to protect her calves.  So he felt the spirit of the place was good to make His home in that fort.   Places of interest Mehrangarh   https://saradaramani.blogspot.com/2023/09/mehrangarh-fort-jodhpur-rajasthan.html Jaswant  Tha

The fortress was built in 1523 by Rao Karamsji, the 8th son of Rao Jodha of Jodhpur. Aurangzeb used to stay there while in Nagaur.   It has now an ITC group hotel.  While this property itself is quite beautiful the surprise is that there us another property owned by the same group belonging to the royal family in midst of the sand dunes It's pristine beauty with modern amenities is really awesome. We left from the Fort in the evening and within about 20 minutes reached the sand dunes.   A short jeep or camel ride takes you to the bottom of a small dune which you can enjoy climbing it with its fine sand its an experience and ftom the tip can view the sunset.  Getting down on the other side takes to about 15 luxury cottages surrounding a small pond.  The rustic and ethnic way of buildi
