Khimsar, Rajasthan

 Rajasthan Tour Dairies

Day 3

Khimsar Fort is located near Khinvsar village, in the Nagaur district of Rajasthan in India, halfway between Jodhpur and Nagaur, on the eastern edge of the Thar Desert. The fortress was built in 1523 by Rao Karamsji, the 8th son of Rao Jodha of Jodhpur. Aurangzeb used to stay there while in Nagaur.   It has now an ITC group hotel.  While this property itself is quite beautiful the surprise is that there us another property owned by the same group belonging to the royal family in midst of the sand dunes

It's pristine beauty with modern amenities is really awesome.

We left from the Fort in the evening and within about 20 minutes reached the sand dunes.   A short jeep or camel ride takes you to the bottom of a small dune which you can enjoy climbing it with its fine sand its an experience and ftom the tip can view the sunset.  Getting down on the other side takes to about 15 luxury cottages surrounding a small pond.  The rustic and ethnic way of building the cottages adds to the charm.  It's just you surrounded by nature and the lovely lighting makes its a wonderland.

A beautiful evening indeed it was.
