city palace udaipur - Part I

The city Palace is the center piece of the Tourist attraction and is rich with the history of the region.  These are the regions which have been under constant attack by invaders and the way each battle has taught the rulers and the people of the kingdom to fortify themselves are very visible in the way the palace is built. Coming from  Chittor Maharana Udai Singh after whom the city has been named as Udaipur built the palace in the year 1553 on the advice of an Sage whom he met during his hunting episode. Shrinathji Nathdwara temple

We were truly blessed to get the darshan of Shrinathji - the all powerful little Krishna - the Giver of all boons of the devotees.   We got to know of this great God when we first started our business through one of the persons who had lent us a h uge sum of money in 1997.  In fact, he was boarding the train to Udaipur when we met him to ask him for the loan.  There are a lot of people who begin  their account statement every year with the first entry to Shrinathji. I was hoping to find some time during the conference days to get His darshan.   The Lord always listens to His devotees.  We had originally planned to visit Kumbalgarh on sunday.  But the time to go up and down was not fitting our schedule and so then the planning started for Nathdwara - the Doorway to Narayan.  The beauty of little Krishna has to be seen and enjoyed.   He was all decked in Pink Color cloths and those few minutes were a bliss on earth.   We were really lucky and blessed to somehow get the darhsan

Here is a picnic spot in the Udaipur  steeped in history.  On the lake shore of Fateh Sagar is the place where the legend of the Maharana Pratap and his brave Arabian Horse Chetak  is kept alive as a Memorial.  The beautiful horse statue adorns the median i n the udaipur city and is lit beautifully in the night. On kartik raviwar day were fortunate to get the blessings of Lord Eklinji the presiding deity and Ruler of Mewar kingdom.   The mewar Ranas have taken A sacred wow that they will rule their kingdom on behalf of eklingi.  This temple is situated about 22kms from Udaipur. The architecture grandeur has to be seen and  enjoyed. Eklinji is in the form of 4 sided siva with each side denoting  suryan, brahma vishnu and Rudra  made of black marble. KARNI MATA temple is a small temple adjacent to city palace udaipur on a hill top.  You can climb up on foot or take the rope car to the top.   We were expecting a lot of  rats roaming around in the temple. Here they are kept in an enclosure only.   The idol of karni Mata made of marble is do beautiful to look at and us so full of grace and benevolence.  We were blessed to witness the arti at 600pm.  The sight of the city with the lake and city palace is beautiful and makes you to spend more time here.  Shri Manshapurna Karni Mata Temple  is a Hindu temple located on the Machla Magra Hills, near the Doodh Talai Lake in Udaipur, Rajasthan.
