Shrinathji Nathdwara temple

We were truly blessed to get the darshan of Shrinathji - the all powerful little Krishna - the Giver of all boons of the devotees.   We got to know of this great God when we first started our business through one of the persons who had lent us a h
uge sum of money in 1997.  In fact, he was boarding the train to Udaipur when we met him to ask him for the loan.

There are a lot of people who begin  their account statement every year with the first entry to Shrinathji.

I was hoping to find some time during the conference days to get His darshan.   The Lord always listens to His devotees.  We had originally planned to visit Kumbalgarh on sunday.  But the time to go up and down was not fitting our schedule and so then the planning started for Nathdwara - the Doorway to Narayan.

The beauty of little Krishna has to be seen and enjoyed.   He was all decked in Pink Color cloths and those few minutes were a bliss on earth.   We were really lucky and blessed to somehow get the darhsan before the closing time during the afternoon Raj Bhog darshan.

The laddu krishna is the next sannadhi we went to.   So beautiful little thottil and small figurenes of horse, elephant and other toys.   you can go on seeing and enjoying the sweet little God Krishna in here.

Climbling atop to have the darshan of Sudarshan Chakra was the next thing we did and finally saw the wooden chariot stuck in the mud in which they had brought the idol of Shrianthji - the Govardhan Giridhari from the original abode at Mathura.

While planning a visit please see the darshan timings as the temple closes after each darshan till the next darshan timings.

Also dont miss to taste the delicious milk sweets from any of the shops surrounding the temple.   They taste so heavenly.

Mobile phones, cameras and baggages. not allowed and so leave them behind.

Nathdwara is a town in India's western state of Rajasthan. It is located in the Aravalli hills, on the banks of the Banas River in Rajsamand District, 48 kilometres north-east of Udaipur. This town is famous for its temple of Krishna which houses the deity of Shrinathji, a 14th-century, 7-year-old "infant" incarnation of Krishna. The deity was originally worshiped at Mathura and was shifted in the 1672 from Govardhan hill, near Mathura along holy river Yamuna after being retained at Agra for almost six months. Literally, Nathdwara means ‘Gateway to Shrinathji (God)’. Nathdwara is a significant Vaishnavite shrine pertaining to the Pushti Marg or the Vallabh Sampradaya or the Shuddha Advaita founded by Vallabha Acharya, revered mainly by people of Gujarat and Rajasthan,] among others. Vitthal Nathji, son of Vallabhacharya institutionalised the worship of Shrinathji at Nathdwara.[Nathdwara town itself is popularly referred to as ‘Shrinathji’, after the presiding deity.

The shrine at Nathdwara was built in the 17th century at the spot as exactly ordained by Shrinathji himself. The idol of the Lord Krishna was being transferred from Vrindaban to protect it from the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb. When the idol reached the spot at village Sihad or Sinhad, the wheels of bullock cart in which the idol was being transported sank axle-deep in mud and could not be moved any farther. The accompanying priests realised that the particular place was the Lord's chosen spot and accordingly, a temple was built there under the rule and protection of the then Maharana Raj Singh of Mewar. Shrinathji Temple is also known as 'Haveli of Shrinathji’ (mansion).
