A Tough Gentle lady
What a paradox in the title itself. this is what I feel about Vani Sukumar- a very tough lady with a gentle touch - which touches your inner core and fills you with all the good things. The toughness is what has made many a people to come to her to get the required mental strength and ability to go forward from their difficult situation.
Her daughter a competent qualified professional says " I find it is so much more easier to say, "She is my mother" than "I am her daughter"..." when she talks about what her mother has been doing and does.
Essentially Vani does work with people with special needs varying from Hyperactivity, Schizophrenia, Learning Disability, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, etc get into a 'normal' workplace. The Founding principles for Vani's Vidya Sagar is "If someone can take medication for diabetes, then why not for schizophrenia? If a lady can go on paid vacation for maternity, why cant a policy be derived for someone with mental illness.
