Arrest of Indian bank ex Chairman
Yesterday evening I saw the news item of the ex chairman Mr Gopalakrishnan of Indian bank being awarded a sentence of 14 years for his misuse of official position to sanction a loan to a party and causing a loss of 8.41 crores losses to the bank. At one hand I was pained to see this as I have seen him in a personal capacity as a simple person -who has been forced to sell his ancestral property and go to live in a small rented house after all the hell broke loose for him - it was a riches to rags kind of story. while on the other hand, here is a instance of the justice system (I dont know the case details and I am not commenting on the right or wrong of it please) where somebody has been punished for causing loss to his employer.
My question is - the accountability on the part of a employee is really great - but what about the politicians - how many crores of the Indian rupees is lost everyday by these peoples' mismanagement. When will these people be made accountable for it. will we see something like this happening in our life time?

To answer your question on the issue you wrote:
1. No politician is genuine and people concerned. Politics have become the biggest and only way to extract money openly from the common man
2. Accountability is the last thing our elected Politicians can think of. Basically to even getting a school admission, a child's parent need to be a graduate, income should be so and so, and what no. But to be a politician all you need is the age adherence. There begin the accountability
3. The best they can do if found guilty is resign the post and go. But remember HP ex-CEO after being Nasscom chairman still getting under judicial enquiry for the death of the BPO employee during the night shift. Corporate accountability is a reality where as Government accountability is a myth.
4. Corruption is at peak in the government sector where for the smallest of needs we have to run from pillar to post. Its not just the clerks who share the money, but a major chuck goes to the local MPs and MLAs. Reminding the BJP current agenda and agitation to pull of the black money thats in the foreign banks. But certainly this will never happen for one single reason that all politicians are the same no matter what party they belong to
5. People with criminal records cannot get government jobs but they can become the government and this ultimate fun can happen unfortunately only in India. Law is uniform for everyone - ironically only in the Constitution of India, but politicians are far above its reach.
