back again

It has been a long time since I could write my blog. The reason " I was travelling"......
Yes I had a hectic trip 5 cities 5 days with everyday air travel, hotel check in followed by next day business meeting, check out and then air travel contd...
This was a very different and difficult trip, where the climate was extreme and the business climate was also different with all the companies going on budgetary cuts and so many people being let go. The sad part was, it wasnt about the individuals, but about the necessity of the situation that made the companies to take this extreme steps.
Here I have to talk about the American business environment - everybody understands that when you are issued the pink slip in these circumstances, it is not about You, but about the situation. So the next company where you seek an employment doesnt look down upon. Also when things get better, these same people can also come back to the company with no ill feelings. However, in India, the perception is different. Anybody who has been sent out of job faces a touch situation and he or she has to explain it is definitely nothing against them in particular. What a contrast. Being Jobless is better in US than in India, as the society doesnt discriminate you in terms of your industry, post, qualification in US. Also it is OK to fail in US and failure is not the seen as be all and end all.
But Indian society doesn't accept the failures that easily. That is why the entrepreneurs have a tough time whatever may be the business climate. Filing for bankruptcy is most demeaning thing in India and there is no chapter 11. Of course, you can file with BIFR, but those are tough & restructuring your business and taking on the changed situation - this option is not at all there.
Though times are tough, the resilience of the people will see all the people to come through these tough situations as soon as possible.
On this positive note, I want to sign off
