air travel
Depending on what is your seat location and the company with whom you are in - it is WOW what a travel or Oh My God when is it going to end.
For travellers like us - flying from India to United States - By the end of yesterday's flight I have crossed my 30th flight this year - the travel becomes a necessary chore to be done to meet up with our clients.
Of course, this time this is different, as we are travelling as a family combining both business and pleasure. We had a long travel - Madras to Frankfurt, Frankfurt to Chicago and Chicago to LA.
Even before starting, being a seasoned traveller, I had advised my daughters to pack one set of clothes and 2 sets of underwear. The bath at Frankfurt Businss lounge was refreshing and made us fresh after a overnighter. My advice to the family helped them a lot here.
In India, as soon as we land, while waiting for customs clearance, we complain about the long queue, the long time taken for immigration and the time to be spent waiting for the baggages to arrive. But is other countries different, Oh no. Everywhere it is same. Here the only difference is it is more orderly and we expect to wait also. One thing to be said is that the number of passengers that these airport authorities handles and the Indian air ports handle are no comparison, for that matter these people are much much better.
Here also the aiports differ in how they handle this volume of immigration clearance to be done. The best so far, is the Washington Airport - where there is a separate immigration clearance, baggage collection and rebooking of the baggages for the transit passengers. Believe me, this helps us so so muchby saving a great lot of time in wating for the clearence. I only wish all other airports in US do the same for the transit passengers who are anxious to catch their next flight.
But you be prepared with your own extra set of clothings so that you are not affected even if there is a delay in baggages. Same way, also carry some tapes and plastic covers with you to enable to handle damaged baggage. All these are frequent happenings and whatever may be the brand of the luggage, the kind of handling that is happening, it breaks.
Apart from this have with some basic medicine or a first kid of sort. Dont travel without these.
- Asprin for headache
- Crocin for fever
- Combiflam for pain
- lopamide for diahorrea
- sugandril for toothache
- vicks or amritchan for headache and cold relief
- moov or iodex for muscle pain
- cold cream or moisturiser for dry skin
- lip balm for cracked lips.
If it is a long flight, try to carry a light sweater as inside the plane sometimes is very cold and the blankets are not enought to cover all of the body. The sweater will make you feel comfortable.
So all the best and hope for a good flight even if is a bad flight to need to take.
Happy flying
