Image
Jitto Baba temple is another  famous temple near katra.  It's about 6.5 kms ftom katra overlooking the Trikuta mountain range. Aghar Jitto Baba was an ardent devotee of Maa Vaishno Devi.  Everyday he used to climb to Trikuta mountain to have Darshan if Maa and worship her and return back to his place which is overlooking the mountain.  He used to do this for 16 years without missing even a single day.  Pleased with such a devotion Maa Vaishno Devi appeared before him and asked him what he wanted.  He said there is no water source in the place where he is and so Maa ensured that Pure water came through to his ashram. His next wish was that - Maa am getting old and will not be able to continue to be climb the Trikuta mountain everyday to have your darshan. So please come and Stay with me forever.  Immediately Maa came down with him as a kanya or a small girl.   There is A huge statue of Baba holding the hand of a small girl looking at the Triku...

Raghunath Temple @ Jammu

What a magnificent temple it is - The Raghunath Temple @ Jammu.   Though the main deity is Lord Rama and his parivar, it has all Gods Sannidhis too.  The priest takes time to explain about the temple depsite the crowd that is present there.  They also allow the devotees to take photographs of the murti, while prevent anyone taking selfies.  It is a huge temple with separate sannidhis for the Gods.   And the important thing is that it is believed that there is 1 crore Saligraman in this temple.   Room after room on the pathway there are thousands of saligramam in each room.   There is a a huge beautiful Spatike Lingam behind which is Nataraja idol.  So surprising to see the Statue of Nataraja in a North Indian temple.    This is in the main market area of the Jammu city and is easily accessable by car, auto, etc.  Despite the crowd, the temple being big, it becomes easy to have darhsan at every sannandhi. History ...

Raghunath Temple Suchetgarh @ Jammu

Raghunath Mandir, Suchetgarh, is on zero point at the International Border in Jammu. It is not a Mandir anymore where from the idols have been moved to the Raghnath Mandir in the Jammu city, as some of the idols were destroyed in the Paksitani shelling in 1971. Even now the shell that fell on the temple is on display in the nearby shop. But what a history this temple carries.

India- Pakistan International Border near Jammu

An incredibly emotional moment for all of us who were part of the Amarnath Yatra to end the trip with a visit to the India -Pakistan International Border near Jammu.   This is what I found in the net when I was searching for the distance.   The Suchetgarh Border post is 28 kms from main Jammu. The road to Nai Basti-Gulabgarh from Jammu follows the train route as it existed prior to 1947 and a number of old buildings can be seen on the way. Suchetgarh Post served as the route to Sialkot during the pre-partition era, which is just 11 kms from the post and earlier there was an Octroi post at this point. On the other side of the border post lies a spectacular Banyan Tree, which is as old as 100 years. In close vicinity are the "Gharana and Abdullian wet lands where migratory birds of a number of varieties flock during winter season. Coming from Tamilnadu where we are very safe in terms of International Border ( of course we need to be protected at Sea by Navy, sti...
